Yoga
Yoga is a holistic practice that supports mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing by bringing the body, breath, and mind into greater balance. Through mindful movement, conscious breathing, and periods of stillness, yoga encourages us to slow down, reconnect, and develop a deeper awareness of ourselves. Over time, this awareness can support emotional regulation, improved concentration, reduced stress, and a greater sense of ease in daily life.
From a physical perspective, yoga helps to sustain and improve range of movement, flexibility, strength, and postural balance. Regular practice supports joint health, muscular resilience, and functional movement, making it a valuable complement to both active lifestyles and periods of recovery. Yoga also encourages better breathing patterns, nervous system regulation, and body awareness, all of which play an important role in long-term health and wellbeing.
Beyond the mat, yoga can become a supportive framework for a healthy lifestyle. Many people find that regular practice fosters improved sleep, more mindful decision-making, and a kinder relationship with their bodies. Yoga invites us to listen more closely to our needs, respond with compassion, and cultivate habits that support sustainable health rather than quick fixes.
Michael completed his foundation yoga training with the British Wheel of Yoga before gaining his initial 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate with Yoga London in 2016. Since then, he has undertaken extensive continued professional development, including specialist training in Yin Yoga, Mindfulness, Meditation, Yoga Therapy and Yoga Nidra. Michael has taught yoga classes, workshops, and retreats both in the UK and internationally, including retreats across Europe and in India.
Yoga first became an important support for Michael during a period of personal health difficulty, offering not only physical benefits but also tools for resilience, self-regulation, and healing. This lived experience continues to inform his teaching style, which is grounded, inclusive, and responsive to individual needs. His approach emphasises mindful movement, breath awareness, and creating a safe, supportive space for each person’s practice.
